Alexandra Henderson, soprano, is a senior at Southern Methodist University studying Vocal Performance as a student of Barbara Hill Moore. A native of Oneonta, New York, Alexandra first began her singing career as a Dox Apprentice with the Catskill Choral Society. While attending the Houston High School for Performing and Visual Arts, Alexandra was selected to join the ACDA National Honor Choir under Eric Whitacre. During her time abroad, Alexandra played Nellie Forbush in the SMU-in-South Africa production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific and was in the South African premier of Wading Home, an opera composed by Mary Alice Rich. As a member of the Meadows Opera Ensemble, Alexandra performed as Zerlina in “Here Comes the Bride..?” and First Tourière in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, as well as being an ensemble member of Ned Rorem’s Our Town and Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte. Prior to Covid-19 cancellations, Alexandra was hired to serve as the Artistic Operations Intern with the Glimmerglass Festival for the 2020 season. In her free time, Alexandra loves to bake, read, and go on hikes with her dog, Happy.
